Test dynamic content with the Litmus Extension

The Litmus Extension can be used to test dynamic content alongside many different ESPs without the hassle of switching between tools. You will need a Litmus Enterprise plan to utilize Litmus Extension in each of these ESP environments.

Getting started

Before you begin, install the Litmus Extension. You'll find it in the Chrome Store to add to your browser.

Next, choose your ESP for more details on getting the most out of your testing with Litmus!

Testing dynamic content in Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  1. Log in to Salesforce Marketing Cloud and open the email you want to test in the Content Editor mode.
  2. Select the version of your email to test and choose its Content tab.
  3. Open Litmus Extension by clicking on the Litmus logo in your Chrome browser bar. If needed, log in to your Litmus Enterprise account. Litmus Extension will test how your email renders across popular email clients and check links, tracking, image blocking, and loading speed.  
  4. Select another version of your email in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and then Refresh in Litmus Extension to test each version in a single click.

Testing dynamic content in Marketo

  1. Log in to Marketo and open the email you want to test in “Preview” mode.
  2. Select the version of your email to test using the segmentation dropdown menu in Marketo.
  3. Open Litmus Extension by clicking on the Litmus logo in your Chrome browser bar. If needed, log in to your Litmus Enterprise account. Litmus Extension will test how your email renders across popular email clients, review elements that help your email make a great first impression, and check links, tracking, image blocking, and loading speed.  
  4. Select another version of your email in Marketo and hit “Refresh” in Litmus Extension to test each version in a single click.

Testing dynamic content in Oracle Responsys

  1. Log in to Oracle Responsys and open the email you want to test in “Preview” mode.
  2. Select the version of your email to test in Responsys.
  3. Open Litmus Extension by clicking on the Litmus logo in your Chrome browser bar. If needed, log in to your Litmus Enterprise account. Litmus Extension will test how your email renders across popular email clients, review elements that help your email make a great first impression, and check links, tracking, image blocking, and loading speed.  
  4. Select another version of your email in Oracle Responsys and hit “Refresh” in Litmus Extension to test each version in a single click.

Testing dynamic content in Adobe Campaign Standard

  1. Log in to Adobe Campaign and build your email.
  2. Once you’re done building your email in Adobe Campaign Standard, switch to “Preview” mode and select your testing profiles using “Change profile” if you have dynamic, personalized content to test.  
  3. Open Litmus Extension by clicking on the Litmus logo in your Chrome browser bar. If needed, log in to your Litmus Enterprise account. Litmus Extension will test how your email renders across popular email clients, review elements that help your email make a great first impression, and check links, tracking, image blocking, and loading speed.  
  4. To test versions of dynamic content, use the arrow to switch between profiles and click “Refresh” on Extension. You’ll be able to easily test the same elements.

Accessing email tests in Litmus

Each email you test in the Litmus Extension will create a new email project in Litmus and you can toggle between versions of your dynamic content within that project.

Navigate to the “Extension” folder in the sidebar, choose the email, navigate to “Previews & QA” and choose the version you want to reinspect.
