New, redesigned Litmus getting started guide
Below is a Quick Start Guide for users that have access to both legacy Litmus and the new, redesigned Litmus.
STEP 1: Have each member of your team switch to the new Litmus
Each member of your team should click on the “Try new Litmus” banner within their Litmus account.
Keep in mind: Switching over to the new Litmus won’t impact anyone else on your account—it’s at the individual user level. We recommend that your team switches over to the new Litmus together as emails created in the new Litmus will not be visible in legacy Litmus.
STEP 2: Create your new personal Litmus address
Create your new personal address in the “Inbox” folder. You can send your emails directly to this new personal Litmus address and we’ll automatically create your email across Builder, Proof, and Checklist views*.
Keep in mind: Your pre-existing personal Litmus address will continue to generate Checklists, Proofs, or Builder projects in legacy Litmus, rather than new Litmus.
*Proof is exclusively an Enterprise feature.
STEP 3: Organize your emails and make searching a breeze with folders
Click on the + next to the “Inbox” folder to create folders and subfolders. Organize your emails by campaign type, timeframe, or any categorization that fits your business.
STEP 4: You’re ready to start! Create your first email
It’s time to create your first email in the new, redesigned Litmus! There are a few ways to start:
- Send an email into Litmus via your personal email address. This method will automatically place your email in the “Inbox” folder. You can then move it into the appropriate folder.
- Use the “Create email” button in any folder or on the dashboard: Click “Create email” on the dashboard, within the “Inbox” folder, or within any of your folders. You can choose to email in from your email service provider (ESP), sync your email from your ESP*, import your HTML, paste your HTML, or start your project in Builder. Choose the method that works best for your workflow.
*ESP Syncing is available on Plus plans and above.
PRO TIP #1: Access your legacy Litmus projects
Legacy Email Analytics and Spam Testing reports are available in the new Litmus by default. To access other legacy projects in new Litmus, click on Builder, Checklist, or Proof under “Legacy Emails” in the sidebar. Within each of these folders, you’ll see all of your legacy projects. Open a project and follow the prompt to have it transferred to new Litmus. Once transferred, it will be marked as a transferred project in legacy Litmus and accessible by clicking on the “View in new Litmus” button.
PRO TIP #2: Set up your Task Template to ensure consistency and quality
Available exclusively to Litmus Enterprise, visit the Task Template within your Account Settings to create and edit your template. This template will display for all new emails created in your account.

Important date to remember
As we continue to innovate in the new Litmus, we will be retiring our legacy platform in April 2021.
Once retired, the legacy platform will no longer be accessible. However, all of your legacy projects will be available in new Litmus under the “Legacy Emails” folder.
