Detect dark mode clients with Litmus tracking
Litmus tracking codes include the detection of specific dark mode variants on some supported email clients. You can get a better understanding of the popularity of dark modes in your email audiences.
Set up dark mode tracking
Insert a Litmus tracking code in your email's HTML to start tracking dark mode clients.
Only tracking codes created on or after October 23, 2020, are able to detect dark mode clients. If you have email campaigns containing older Litmus tracking codes, you will need to replace them with new ones if you wish to begin collecting dark mode client information on these campaigns.
In the unlikely event you still have tracking codes running from before October 23, 2020, the only sure way to capture dark mode is to replace them with new ones. Doctoring existing tracking codes may cause the code to stop working all together causing a loss of data for you.
View dark mode results
Once an email containing a Litmus tracking code has been deployed, data for that tracking code will begin to populate in Litmus. You can view your analytics with the Analytics tab in your Builder project.
You can also look up a specific tracking code in the Tracking code manager. Find it in the Analyze link in the top menu of the Litmus app.
Dark mode information will be shown in the expandable table in the Email clients section of the tracking code report. Expand any client to see the Dark Mode results.
