Image carousels guide

Image carousels are animated GIFs that cycle through static images set in Litmus Personalize. For example, create a showcase of new products or features, build a step-by-step guide for your audience, and more.

Start in the Personalized Content top menu tab, then build a new image carousel from the Overview tab or from the Image carousels section in the left menu. Then select the green New image carousel button.

Your carousel's default name is "Swap" but you can edit it to whatever you prefer.

Timer title edit option at the top of the Personalize content design step.

In the editor, upload your images, set your click-through URL and alt-text, and set animation speed.

Use the Upload image button to add images to your carousel. You can upload a maximum of 5 images.

We recommend using images with the same aspect ratio. However, if you upload images with different aspect ratios (e.g. one image is 300 x 600 px and another is 350 x 700 px) we will automatically crop the image to 600 pixels wide (or the lowest width of all images), and the shortest height of all images, cropping the bottom of other images where necessary.

On the right, set your animation speed to Slow, Medium, or Fast.

When your images, URL, alt text, and animation speed are set, select Next: preview your image carousel on the upper right to move to the next step and view an animated preview.

To add an image carousel to your email, copy the HTML tag for your carousel and add it to your email's code. You can quickly copy the tag by hovering over the thumbnail and selecting Copy HTML. You can also change the name of any carousel in your Personalize library.

Impression usage

An image carousel is a single image, so any time the image is loaded this will count as one impression.

NOTE: Impressions usage limits vary based on your subscription. Learn more about usage limits and how impressions are counted to make sure you understand how your tag will impact your usage!
