Sentiment trackers
Listen to your audience with sentiment trackers. A sentiment tracker is a live poll that your subscribers can interact with that will display current results when an email is opened. For example, you can engage your audience by inviting them to weigh in on the value each email delivers!
Sentiment trackers are located in the Personalize section of the Litmus platform. From the Personalize tab, select Sentiment trackers on the left side. Here, you can create a new tracker and find any you've already created.

Create a sentiment tracker
In the Sentiment tracker section of the Personalize tab, select New sentiment tracker in the upper right corner.
Select a template from the options provided.
Next, customize your sentiment tracker. On this page, you can add a URL for each of your options where your subscribers will be redirected after casting their vote. Here you can also customize the prompt, font colors, and background colors for your tracker and results.
When you are ready, select Next: Preview your sentiment tracker. Enter numbers in the field for each option to preview how your sentiment tracker will appear as subscribers interact with it. These are placeholder values and won't affect your code.
When your image is set up and ready, select Next: Save and get HTML to generate your tag! You can copy the tag using the button below the text box, and your new tracker will appear in the Sentiment trackers section of the Personalize tab in your account.
Add a sentiment tracker to your email
To add a sentiment tracker to your email, copy the code generated and add it to your email's HTML. You can quickly copy the tag by hovering over the sentiment tracker's thumbnail and selecting Copy HTML.
You can add this block of code to your email in Litmus Builder's code editor, or wherever you build your emails!
View your polling results and click data
Hover over a thumbnail in the Sentiment trackers section of the Personalize tab and select View report to check current polling results and click data for your sentiment tracker.
The report will display the total number of clicks your sentiment tracker has recorded, and a breakdown of how many times each option was clicked.
Impression usage
A sentiment tracker may use between 4 and 6 images depending on the number of options in your poll.
NOTE: Impressions usage limits vary based on your subscription. Learn more about usage limits and how impressions are counted to make sure you understand how your tag will impact your usage!
Apple Mail Privacy Protection (MPP)
When an email is sent to an inbox with MPP enabled, email images are automatically downloaded and cached. The cached images are then displayed when the email is opened. Due to this, sentiment trackers will display the percentages as they were at the time of your send for users with MPP enabled.
Due to this, we recommend staggering your sends when using sentiment trackers. This will allow some poll results to be gathered before the images are cached for segments of your subscribers.
MPP-impacted opens will count towards impressions usage.
